Office Talk: Tales of the Specialty Niche - E37
As I have conveyed via the podcast and blog the past 8 months, I have been trying to build a specialty niche for my office. I started about 2-3 years ago and I have finally settled on specialty contact lenses. We fit a ton of contacts and I have been doing multifocal, monovision, custom soft lenses and the like since we opened. Adding myopia management, orthokeratology, and scleral lenses just made sense, and honestly it has been fun to learn!
That being said, I wanted to share the fact that I have had quite a few scleral fits and scheduled another one in two weeks. In addition, I have 2 myopia management consultations scheduled for next week. It has been a slow build and I have a long way to go, but I am gaining confidence and building my specialty.
I write to encourage you. If you invest in a niche, it will bear fruit. You need to get your hands dirty and fail a few times, have a few people say NO, and more importantly get some YES’! It is not a smooth process and you are only going to learn how to get better and refine your systems by doing the actual work.
Get your hands dirty my friends!
