You know hot it is in optometry school. You are in clinic and have access to any test you want. Whether or not the patient can pay is an afterthought and the clinic has all the coolest new toys and latest technology, why would you not use it?
Then you start your own office and guess what? You have to pay for all those fun toys in addition to the office furniture, telephones, computers, etc., you name it and the bill comes to you. It can be kind of sad to realize you may have to refer out glaucoma patients or macular degeneration patients because you do not have the equipment to properly treat them.
Do not worry my friends. This is merely the start of your journey. You will get every piece of equipment you want, it is just going to take time and you will learn what pieces of equipment make the most sense initially. Everything you do is an investment into the future. The most important piece of advice I can offer is to stay up to date mentally. You do not want to forget everything you learned and start from scratch.
