Closing Thought of the Week: Review Season - E25
This is the season of reviews and at my office we give the staff a chance to review me and the office manager. I am always open to feedback and criticism, as I feel it is the best way to grow. Making sure your staff has a voice and feels like they are heard is invaluable. That being said, when you go to review them, do they really want to hear what you have to say? I would say probably not, and no matter how many good things you discuss, they are going to dwell on the negative. I know that any negative comments I get stick out more than the positives.
In earlier days, I would become very defensive and justify my position, even if it was in my own head. Your staff is probably the same or worse and you need to understand that in order to get change or the desired outcome you are shooting for. So what is the magic answer to avoid any resentment and get the best possible results? LOL if I knew that, I would be a very wealthy man.
